PYNKIE is the musical project of New Jersey’s Lindsey Radice, singer/songwriter and registered nurse by day. Lindsey has been making songs (or “songies” as she calls them) since she was a freshman in college. A friend from her dorm introduced her to the free recording software, Audacity, and the Blue Snowball USB microphone. She started out making silly songs about things like cup noodles and the rubber ducks on her dorm room shower curtains. Eventually, she began collaborating with other musicians and sound engineers to help bring her bedroom pop tunes to life, while also continuing to stick to her roots and releasing the occasional unpolished demo along the way.
Lindsey’s sound is mostly inspired by nostalgic 90s/00s indie and alt rock (artists like Liz Phair, Julie Doiron, and that dog.) while also being influenced by more modern-day indie artists (Okay Kaya, Clairo, and Mitski). PYNKIE first started to gain online attention from her uploads on SoundCloud getting a significant amount of likes/plays/reposts. Her releases then began to be shared on YouTube by channels like David Dean Burkhart, Lazylazyme, and Magestic Casual. Earlier tracks “starry eyed – demo” and “Dew – Lo-Fi Version” have over a half million Spotify streams, with the latter topping over 1.5 million. This early attention motivated her to write and record more often, eventually leading to the creation of three full length albums.
